There are three types of Hajj. All are valid; the difference is how Umrah and Hajj are combined and whether a sacrifice (Hady) is required.
Hajj al-Tamattu
Perform Umrah during the Hajj months, leave Ihram, then enter Ihram again for Hajj on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah. A sacrifice is required. This is the most common choice for pilgrims from the UK and Pakistan and is what our packages are planned for.
Hajj al-Qiran
Enter Ihram for Umrah and Hajj together and stay in Ihram until the Day of Eid. A sacrifice is required. Suitable for those arriving close to the days of Hajj.
Hajj al-Ifrad
Enter Ihram for Hajj only. No Umrah is combined with it and no sacrifice is required. Often chosen by residents of Makkah.
Shifting and non-shifting packages
These words describe your hotel, not the type of Hajj:
- Non-shifting: you stay in your Makkah hotel near the Haram for the whole stay.
- Shifting: you stay in Aziziyah (closer to Mina) before or after the days of Hajj, which lowers the price.
